The municipal Department of Health said that the overcrowding in public hospitals is seen not only in wards to receive inpatients but also in wards to treat outpatients. By the sector’s statistics, in 2015, the number of outpatients in public hospitals was 34 million, accounting for 23 percent of the country’s outpatients.
These hospitals receive a huge number of outpatients including Children Hospital No.1 and 2, Gia Dinh People’s Hospital; People’s 115 Hospital and Hung Vuong Maternity Hospital. The number of outpatients escalates annually; for instance, in the first quarter of 2016, it increased by 5-10 percent compared to same period last year.
