Toshiba to invest USD1 billion in Southeast Asia

Toshiba Corporation announced its business expansion strategy for the Southeast Asia region, which includes investing USD1 billion in the region over the next five years, and doubling its current sales to USD7 billion.
Speaking at a press conference in Jakarta, Indonesia, Hisao Tanaka, the President and CEO of Toshiba, commented that SEA serves as a key region to the company as it has long been a strategic manufacturing hub.
"We are building a new medical equipment manufacturing plant in Malaysia," said Tanaka, adding that Toshiba has recently positioned healthcare as one of its three main pillars of business.
