"We're allocating RM300 million to expand the Kota Damansara hospital and RM1.2 billion for the new Iskandariah Hospital in Johor," said its chief executive officer Roy Quek.

By 2019, the total beds at Tropicana Medical Centre in Kota Damansara will increase to 600 from 200 currently. Iskandariah Hospital will provide 500 beds, which will mainly cater to domestic and regional patients, particularly from Singapore and Indonesia. Malaysia attracts around 800,000 inbound medical tourists per year. Quek said TMC was targeting a 25 per cent revenue contribution from medical tourism between this year and 2020.

Quek said TMC is allocating RM1.8 million to set up a new fertility centre in Ipoh. Currently, the group operates five such centres in Kota Damansara, Kepong, Puchong, Johor Baru and Penang.
