GSK to launch two R&D centres in São Paulo

The Brazilian São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and UK pharmaceutical firm GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) announced that they will be working together on the creation of two clinical research centres at educational and research and development (R&D) institutions in the state of São Paulo.
The first centre will be established at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar). The second centre will be based at the Butantan Institute.

These R&D centres to be established in partnership with GSK is in line with the FAPESP's Partnership for Technological Innovation (PITE) programme.
According to Cesar Rengifo, representative of GSK, the company aims to promote strategic alliances that contribute to the increase of scientific and technological skills in the clinical research field in Brazil.
