Shanghai's state of the heart facility opens

Shanghai’s first international hospital specializing in cardiovascular diseases has opened, providing a high quality health service to both expatriates and local citizens.

The US-based DeltaHealth Hospital is the first such facility in China and is being run in cooperation with Columbia HeartSource. The hospital’s first phase of 200 beds is completed and 350 beds are planned in the second phase.
Local leading medical experts will be able to work at the hospital under the health reform, which allows doctors to work in more than one hospital.
“We want to provide a new standard of heart care in line with international practice to China,” said Desmond Thio, CEO of DeltaHealth.
