Brazil medical equipment consumption down 4%

Medical equipment consumption in Brazil was down by 4.4% in the period of January to September 2015 in the year-on-year comparison, according to data from the Brazilian health innovation companies alliance Abiis.

To calculate the rate, Abiis considers domestic production, which increased 5.1% in the first nine months of 2015 year-on-year, and imports, which decreased to 9.23% in the period. The sector was affected by the high exchange rate with the US dollar.
