Singapore's ICU data to be standardised with new registry

A national database of intensive care units across all public hospitals will be developed to better understand patients who are critically ill, announced Health Minister Gan Kim Yong at an Intensive Care Forum on 24-Apr-15.

Data collection for intensive care will now be standardised through a National Intensive Care Unit Registry (NICUR). Data collected includes age, medical history, treatment and mortality rate of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) patients.

It is now hoped the national database can reveal information such as the common critical illnesses in Singapore and whether ICUs are adequately resourced. The Health Ministry has been working with the intensive care community from various hospitals to improve the understanding of care of patients in ICUs.
