Qatar aims to subdue healthcare cost inflation

Medical inflation is a global phenomenon and as such, it has not spared the GCC region. Similar to other countries in the region, Qatar has faced generally significant inflationary pressures in the past and with it, the corollary medical inflation. Nevertheless, there is well-founded confidence that we are in a good position to at least tackle this phenomenon, if not subdue it.

It is a recognised fact that healthcare sector is generally on an upward growth curve. Qatar for instance has witnessed double-digit year-on-year growth in health expenditure over the past four years (cca 25% 2010 to 2013). Interestingly, there remains a continuous pledge from the Government to maintain this growth in the coming years as well.
