Methodist Healthcare building hospital in Shanghai

The Chinese government wants to privatize 20% of the country’s hospitals by 2020, and Memphis-based Methodist Healthcare plans to be a key component in that mission.

Methodist’s strategic, collaborative partnership with China-based healthcare management group, Silver Mountain Capital, is Methodist’s latest move into China and the Asian market as a whole.

David Baytos, senior vice president and CEO of International Healthcare Services for Methodist, says Methodist and Silver Mountain Capital are developing a hospital in Shanghai. "If it has to do with nursing or pharmacy and reducing the cost of services, we’ll be involved," he said.
