Maharashtra seeks to boost medical tourism: Website will list hospital details and treatment costs

To ensure transparency and accountability in the medical tourism sector, Maharashtra plans to launch a portal that will serve as a single window for information. The website will provide foreign patients with information on treatment programmes, cost and success rates.

In a meeting between public health minister Deepak Sawant and private and charitable hospitals, it was decided that the portal would be the first in a series of measures to boost the sector.
Maharashtra witnesses an annual flow of nearly 50,000 patients coming from abroad for heart, orthopaedic, cancer and other ailments.
