India’s Chief Secretary says expand the telemedicine network

Telemedicine network is vital for ensuring reach of quality healthcare services to people in rural, remote and backward pockets. There should be a well-planned approach to make the services available to people at grassroots, Chief Secretary Gokul Pati said here on Thursday.

Speaking at a function organised by State MSME Department, Odisha Trust of Technical Education and Training (OTTET) and Biocon Foundation, Pati stressed on providing healthcare services at doorsteps of people and pressed for expansion of telemedicine network. Secretary, MSME, Panchanan Dash said besides healthcare services, the project undertaken with OTTET on PPP mode has tremendous potential for employment generation and driving entrepreneurship.

Managing Trustee of OTTET, KN Bhagat said the project had targeted to take healthcare services to 51,000 villages. The services included teleconsultation, telepathology, teleradiology and teleopthalmology.
