The Global Burden of Health Report has found that heart disease causes 18% of all deaths in India, which could acquire the dubious distinction of being the heart disease capital of the world. However, technologies like AI can be influential in creating predictive healthcare models for cardiovascular diseases.

Apollo Hospitals has collaborated with Microsoft's AI Network for Healthcare to develop an India-specific heart risk score and better predict cardiac diseases. 

"We have partnered with Microsoft to build algorithms for cardiac risk score. These algorithms help detect cardiovascular diseases from several patterns that are particular to the Indian subcontinent patient population," said Arvind Sivaramakrishnan, CIO, Apollo Hospitals Enterprise.
