The SBC-MC algae cultivation facility maximises yield and minimises costs by growing indigenous microalgal strains adapted to Sarawak’s tropical environment. It is expected to yield up to 60 tonnes per hectare per year equivalent of dried algal biomass.
Sarawak has an ideal environment for outdoor cultivation of microalgae for the production of various commercial products including cosmetics, fine chemicals, pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals, biofuels, fertilisers, food and feedstock.
