Pantai to expand to east coast Malaysia

Pantai Holdings Bhd is already planning to expand its operations to the east coast states as part of its strategy to make private healthcare services available nationwide.

Chairman Datuk Annuar Abdullah said “Yes, we want to have a presence on the east coast, but there is no specific time frame when we are going to open our new hospital there.” 

Annuar was speaking at a press conference when hosting the familiarisation visit by state secretary Datuk Ismail Karim to Gleneagles Medini Hospital.

He said the company had yet to decide whether its first hospital on the east coast will operate under the brand name of Pantai or Gleneagles. “Our main objective is to make private healthcare services available to Malaysians regardless of when they are in the country.”

He said 90% of patients who sought outpatient or inpatient treatment at the company’s hospitals nation-wide were Malaysians, while 10% was made up of foreigners.
