Most novice nurses in Taiwan lack training

A group of local nurses staged a demonstration Thursday in which they urged the health authorities to pay attention to the lack of training given to novice nurses.

The nurses were also protesting over the requirement that they must provide cross-discipline care, which they said is causing huge work pressure and a high departure rates among nurses.
The protest was organized by the Taiwan Radical Nurse Union to coincide with International Nurses Day.
According to Teng Ya-wen (鄧雅文), president of the union, novice nurses should receive at least three months of training before they are allowed to work independently.
