The Territory’s emergency department treatment times are among the worst in the country and it is failing to meet elective surgery targets, a new report shows.

National targets require the Territory to treat 83 per cent of emergency department pat­ients within four hours but just 62 per cent were seen in this time, an AMA report card on public hospitals has revealed.

Waiting times for elective surgery fell by a day to the ­national average 36 days in 2013-14 but the NT failed to meet a target of treating 77 per cent of urgent patients in 90 days.
