Steel producers in Saudi Arabia are producing at nearly half their output capaity due to unfair competition form foreign imports, according to the Gulf Kingdom's steel body.

Nearly 55 percent of domestic steel demand in the world's largest oil exporter is met by imports, mostly from China. 

Local steel and cement demand is expected to recover in the next years as part of the Kingdom's long term development strategy, dubbed Vision 2030.
