India's DocsApp raises USD7.2 million

Online doctor consultation startup DocsApp has raised USD7.2 mn from Bessemer Venture Partners, Japanese investors Techmatrix Corporation and DeNa networks. Existing Facebook angel investors Anand Rajaraman, Venky Harinarayanan and Japanese VC Rebright partners also participated in this Series A round.

Satish Kannan, co-founder and CEO of DocsApp, said, "The new round of funding will help us take specialised care downstream to more remote and underpenetrated areas and also help us to further strengthen our leadership position."

The rural to urban usage of the platform has witnessed an increase with 40% of the total consultations happening from rural parts of the country. "By the coming year, we aim at serving over 3,000 patients every month, from the current monthly count of 2,000."
