Medical technology for India – market of the future?

India is a land of contradictions. On the one hand, it has densely populated cities with state of the art technology, even when it comes to health care. On the other hand, two-thirds of the population still live under challenging hygienic and financial conditions in the rural areas. More and more medical technology companies from all over the world are interested in this market.

Many private hospitals in India are currently modernizing to be able to receive and welcome the increasing number of medical tourists. The Indian government actually advertises "First Class Health Care at Third World Prices".

This calls for respective technical devices and hospital equipment. A great opportunity for foreign companies, who are "lured" by the government offering lower import taxes and big tax breaks.
