Health data to be available across government hospitals in India

The Health Department has started the process of digitalising medical records of patients treated at government hospitals. “If you are examined at one hospital, the results of these tests will be available to the other hospitals where the patient goes for follow-up treatment,” said Health and Family Welfare Minister U.T. Khader.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a review meeting at the Government Lady Goschen Hospital here on Wednesday, Mr. Khader said they would digitalise medical records of patients treated at the district hospitals, taluk hospitals, community and primary health centres.

“The process of linking these records was on,” he said.

Mr. Khader said the new system will work in the same way as the Maternal Tracking system. Through Maternal Tracking System, the department has been monitoring health of each of pregnant woman and of the baby she delivers.
