World’s first voice recognition system for diabetes management developed in Korea

Seoul National University Bundang Hospital announced on January 27 that it kept track of 99 diabetes patients aged 60 or over for six months and found that the group managed with its voice-recognition U-healthcare system showed a glycated hemoglobin level 8.5% lower than that of the other group.

U-healthcare is a concept of disease management based on information technology. It allows personalized medical services to be provided around the clock regardless of where patients are located. Still, the aged might be unfamiliar with U-healthcare because it makes use of mobile devices and the Internet.

In view of this point, the Seoul National University Bundang Hospital developed the world’s first U-healthcare system that recognizes users’ voices and stores data when they make phone calls and inform the system of their data such as blood sugar levels and the amounts of physical activities.
